Carlos Gomez @toritoyoga, Founder of La Buena Vida Yoga Retreats and Yoga Day Nonprofit , grew up in Acapulco, Mexico. From an early age he was captivated by the raw energy of the ocean and started surfing at 12 years old. His love for the ocean is so great he got a degree in Marine Science- Oceanography.
Carlos discovered yoga in 2008 and quickly recognized Yoga as path to a fuller and healthier life learning directly from Bikram and his wife Rajashree Choudhury. Creators of the successful and powerful Bikram Yoga method. Within a couple of weeks of very intense practice Carlos managed to 100% heal a very difficult knee injury from a surfing accident for which he was told surgical repair was the ONLY option. Turns out it wasn’t and from then on Carlos committed himself to studying/practicing yoga and other forms of healing. He also represented Mexico in the “World Asana (Yoga) Championships” in 2009.
After 5 years teaching and practicing Bikram Yoga Carlos expanded his horizons by studying other styles of yoga and body movement under world class teachers like David Swenson (Ashtanga Yoga), Beryl Bender Birch (Power Yoga), Nidya Darby (Yoga Therapy), and many others including certification in Yoga for PTSD, Yoga for Children, Yoga for Cancer Survivors, Iyengar Yoga, Acroyoga, etc.
For the last 4 years Carlos has been working and learning the wonderful Wim Hof Method which is all about tapping into our hidden biological power by practicing breath exercises, ice baths and other forms of shocking our minds and bodies out of unhealthy patterns and ready to become superhuman.
